THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION ALLOCATED 40 MILLION EUROS FOR MIGRANTS IN GREECE

The European Commission has allocated almost 40 million euros to improve the conditions of migrants in Greece. “Today, the Commission issued to grant extra cash for migrants in Greece within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF),” the release reports.

It is also specified that the Greek authorities will receive 31,1 million euros out of the total amount to provide services to them, in particular in the areas of health, transfer, and nutrition. Moreover, the funds will be used to organize additional accommodation for migrants. The remaining 6,4 million euros are allocated to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to develop the conditions for the reception of refugees.

The European Commission recalls that since 2015 it has been distributing about 1,6 billion euros of assistance to solve problems related to migration in Greece.
