Too many wars, too many people suffering unnecessarily and having to flee their homes. The pursuit of power knows no bounds. And the few often using Religion as an excuse for aggression.
Post war effects are widely spread, and can be long term or short term. Soldiers experience war differently than civilians, although either suffer in times of war, and women and children suffer unspeakable atrocities in particular. In the past decade, up to two million of those killed in armed conflicts were children. The widespread trauma caused by these atrocities and suffering of the civilian population is another legacy of these conflicts, and creates extensive emotional and psychological stress.
Crisis in Syria… crisis in North Korea… Russia and America facing off… and China getting itself involved in the mix. Yet those are just the most visible flashpoints in a world driven by conflict – look beyond them and there are plenty more trouble spots that could escalate globally. According to the UN and other sources, from March 2015 to November 2017, 8,670 – 10,000 people have been killed in Yemen, including more than 5,200 civilians.
