NEW HYBRID MAMMALS DISCOVERED

A team of scientists discovered a hybrid animal off the coast of Hawaii. A new report by Cascadia Research Collective confirms that they did, and the new marine creature is the result of the merger of two different kinds of dolphins. Also, the researchers found a dolphin hybrid with a melon-headed dolphin and a coarse-dentate dolphin. In an interview with the local newspaper, Robin Baird, the head of the project told that the discovery is the most unusual finding. “We had the photos and suspected it was a hybrid from morphological characteristics intermediate between species,” he said.

It should be noted that one type of these species is rare in Hawaii. For example, melon dolphins usually do not swim in that area. It was recorded when scientists placed satellite tags on aquatic mammals. During their two-week study, the scientists also noticed pan-tropical spotted dolphins which are other rare species. The research team is going to continue to study the species of marine animals next month. They hope to get more photos of new hybrid dolphin samples and to conduct testing on other species in the area.
